===== 🧠 Biography =====

Carl Andrew Cox (born 29 July 1962) is a British house and techno DJ, producer, label founder, and motorsport team owner. Now based in Frankston, Victoria, he’s had a decades-long career spanning global festivals, club residencies, and broadcasting.

He began DJing in his teens during the disco era and rose to prominence in the UK rave scene of the late 1980s and early ’90s. Known for three-deck mixing and dynamic stage energy, Cox helped shape techno’s global identity.

Cox held a 15-year residency at Space Ibiza with his “Music is Revolution” series and curated “Carl Cox & Friends” arenas at major festivals like Ultra, Tomorrowland, and BPM. He was a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix resident and hosted his “Global” radio show from 2001–2017.

He founded Intec Records in 1998 (later relaunched as Intec Digital), and in 2018 co-launched Awesome Soundwave with Christopher Coe — a label focused on live electronic performance. Cox remains an active promoter of new talent and curated stages at Awakenings, ADE, DC-10, and Ziggo Dome.

Outside music, Cox established Carl Cox Motorsport in New Zealand and competed in the Extreme E racing series in 2023. His team is preparing for entry into the hydrogen-powered Extreme H series in 2025. He's also a notable supporter of Isle of Man TT racers and New Zealand's sidecar community.

Cox’s contributions to electronic music were featured in the film *Human Traffic* and the documentary *What We Started*, alongside Martin Garrix.
