🎧 Honey Dijon (born Honey Redmond, June 23, 1972) is an American DJ, producer, and electronic musician. Born in Chicago and currently based between New York City and Berlin, she is celebrated for her genre-defying sets, fashion collaborations, and outspoken advocacy for trans rights.

Honey Dijon grew up on the south side of Chicago in a middle-class, music-loving African-American family. Her early exposure to soul, funk, and disco came from her parents’ record collection and basement parties. By age 12, she was attending high school dances where DJs spun vinyl in auditoriums and skating rinks — formative experiences that sparked her lifelong love of club culture.

🎚️ In the 1990s, she began DJing professionally, mentored by Chicago legends Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, and Greenskeepers. Her sound was shaped by the raw energy of Chicago house and Detroit techno, and she became a regular at iconic record stores like Gramaphone and Imports Etc.

🗽 In the late ’90s, she relocated to New York City, where she connected with Maxi Records and Danny Tenaglia. Her sets evolved to include classic New York house, disco, and European techno, and she quickly became a fixture in underground clubs and fashion events. She came out publicly as transgender shortly after moving to NYC, and has since become a vocal advocate for trans visibility and inclusion in dance music.

🎵 Her debut album *The Best of Both Worlds* (2017) showcased her production chops and genre-blending style. In 2022, she released *Black Girl Magic*, a critically acclaimed follow-up featuring collaborations with Channel Tres, Mike Dunn, and Hadiya George. Her remix credits include Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and David Bowie.


👠 Beyond music, Honey Dijon is deeply embedded in the fashion world. She has curated runway soundtracks for Louis Vuitton and Dior, worked closely with designer Kim Jones, and launched her own fashion label, Honey F__ing Dijon. She’s been profiled in The Gentlewoman, New York Times, and featured in BBC’s Disco: Soundtrack of a Revolution.

🏆 In 2025, Charli XCX shouted her out during her Brit Awards acceptance speech, citing Honey as a major influence. Dijon also contributed to Beyoncé’s *Renaissance* album, earning a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

🗣️ She’s appeared on panels at MoMA PS1, Red Bull Music Academy, and Channel 4, speaking on gender, nightlife, and the power of club culture as a safe space for creative expression.
