Nicolas Jaar

NYC-born Chilean-American composer blending ambient textures and minimal techno grooves 🎹🌌🎧

Nicolas Jaar was born in New York City in 1990 and spent his childhood in Santiago, Chile before returning to Brooklyn as a teenager to pursue music[^1]. His 2011 debut album Space Is Only Noise (Circus Company) received widespread acclaim for its fusion of ambient soundscapes and subtle rhythmic structures[^2][^3]. In 2016 he founded the label Other People to champion experimental electronic music[^4]. Jaar also collaborates as one half of the duo Darkside with guitarist Dave Harrington[^5]. He has scored films and installations, earning praise in Pitchfork and The Guardian for his genre-defying approach[^6].
