Folic State is the alias of Karan Desai, a Mumbai-based producer and DJ active since the early 2010s. He is known for his deep, hypnotic techno productions that blend minimal structures with psychedelic textures. A longtime contributor to India’s underground scene, he’s released over 100 tracks across labels like Soupherb Records, Universal Tribe Records, Kafka Tempo, and Hydrozoa. Folic State is also an A&R for Soupherb Records, co-founded by Ash Roy, and was a Top 10 finalist in the 2019 DUBFIRE mentoring competition. His sets have featured alongside Richie Hawtin, Luigi Tozzi, Boris Brejcha, and Grouch, and he’s played major Indian festivals including Sunburn, Submerge, and Bass Camp.
